Born and raised in Switzerland into the roman minority of the Swiss alps, Tamoah was guided from an early age on into the metaphysical and naturopathic realms. Her travels and studies brought Tamoah to many native cultures before and while she was running her clinic in Switzerland for 25 years. Helping people on the physical level, later on the emotional and mental level, then on the energetic and spiritual level was the natural course of her studies and awakenings.
Tamoahs given name is actually Gerda. When she moved from Switzerland to Canada a few years ago she noticed, that almost nobody can say her name properly. The english version sounded so bad in her ears that she decided to use her spiritual name instead. In the last decades Tamoah received several names: “Wisdom of the Wind” (First Nation), “La’a Anuenue Momi” (Hawai’i) which means Sacred Rainbow Pearl, “Tamoah Mera” (spiritual). Each name has its own story and Tamoah absolutly loves them.
Her “thirst” for natural medicine rose when as a 13 year old she woke up on Christmas Day with a trigeminal nerve paralysis. At first Tamoah thought it was funny how her face looked and that she had to close her eye with the fingers as it wouldn’t on its own, etc., until she realized the physician wanted to send her in for surgery to Zurich Uni hospital. (Her family lived in the Swiss Alps, hence Zurich was “far away” for her perception back then).
Tamoah's mother was devastated (as the results from such surgeries were not guaranteed and would often leave the patient with permanent damages) and decided to practice what she had heard from a monk in the area: using cabbage leaves and olive oil against all sorts of ailments. Go figure, a teenager, thinking "what in the world has gotten into my mother. Am I a rabbit?" But, Tamoah went to bed with the cabbage leaves around her neck and got my her face oiled in the morning.
A week later, when the doctor saw her again, he couldn’t believe his eyes. No more talk about needing to go to Zurich. Well, that sure triggered Tamoahs interest in Mother Nature’s Medicine at a very early age.
This interest and fascination guided her to study and learn since 1991 (and still going) in different countries different healing methods like Ayurveda, traditional Chinese Medicine, natural and holistic medicine, all sorts of different massage techniques, Shamanic Wisdom, Spiritual Psychology, Energy Healing, Quantum Healing, Aura Surgery and Aura Healing, Akashic Records, Mediumship, Meditation, Yoga, Qi Gong, Oracle Cards and more.
Her love for travelling led Tamoah to her other calling: tourguiding. And eventually she started combining her two callings and organized spiritual tours and retreats to Namibia and other destinations.
While travelling in South America as a young adult in 1993 she encountered shamans of different tribes and of different working styles. For Tamoah it was absolutely intriguing to be able to work with an “unseen world” and having amazing results. She was told back then, that she has “una mano que cura.” In English, this means: a healing hand. She wasn’t sure what that meant until she started to work with Massage and Energy Medicine. 10 years later Tamoah was studying with a Maori Shaman in New Zealand and was told that nothing can be pushed. If the time is ripe, the veils open and certain gifts start to unfold in our daily life. And so it was.
Every few years Tamoah would feel a “boost” in her daily work with her clients, receiving new insights and guidance.
The guidance from “above” led her to create her signature methods. But, it became difficult to find a short and sweet entitlement for her work.
Again Universe came to the “rescue” in 2009 during Tamoah's time in Hawaii with her mentor Nahi (R.I.P.). She named Tamoah Medicine Woman, and when Tamoah was about to return to Switzerland, at the airport Nahi held Tamoah's head in her hands (after having done honi, the Hawaiian traditional greeting) and told her again and again with tears in her eyes: “You are a Medicine Woman. You are a Medicine Woman. You are a Medicine Woman. Don’t EVER forget that.”
As we all know how life can test us and bring all sorts of unforeseen circumstances, it is easy to forget who we are in our core if we are not staying the course each single day. But that is a story for another time... ;-)
