Light, Stone & Rose: A Turkish Journey into Feminine Renewal
A soul-guided reflection by Tamoah Burton
It was my son’s birthday trip - a few golden days in Türkiye to celebrate life, adventure, and new beginnings. Cappadocia had held us in its quiet spell, where the earth rises in soft, surreal forms that seem carved by dreams rather than wind. There, the land breathes ancient stories - of fire, air, and transformation - and I could feel them whisper beneath my feet.
On the very last day, his actual birthday, we wandered through the vibrant bazaars of Antalya, drawn by the scent of spices, leather, and freshly brewed tea. He was looking for a very specific necklace, but as life often goes, something else caught my eye.
In the first tiny jewellery shop we entered, my son spoke to the shopkeeper and my eyes caught a soft shimmer from the corner of the display case. The light seemed to play with the stone, shifting between green and pink, then to a delicate golden champagne.
I leaned closer. “What is this one?”
“Zultanite,” the man replied, smiling.
I had never heard of it before.
“Zultanite. Turkish stone. Very rare. It changes color - like life.”
I smiled back, because somehow that felt like a message meant for me.

A Gem That Breathes With Light
Later, I learned that Zultanite - also known as Csarite or Diaspore - comes only from the Anatolian mountains. It’s a gemstone born from the heart of the earth, untouched by treatment or dye. What makes it remarkable is its pleochroism - its ability to shift color with every change of light.
In sunlight it may glow olive green or honey gold; under evening light, it blushes rose or raspberry. The stone never looks the same twice.
And that, I realized, is what drew me in.
It reminded me of the feminine path itself - this endless dance of shifting hues, of being one thing one day and another the next, yet always true, always whole.
Zultanite feels like a teacher of light and perception - a reminder that change is not something to fear, but something to dance with.
For women navigating midlife or menopause, it can serve as a talisman of graceful transformation - of shifting with the light and allowing new shades of beauty to emerge.
Perhaps that’s why it found me that day in the bazaar.
As I learned more about it, I realized Zultanite carries a message that perfectly mirrors the journey many women walk - especially through menopause.
Its ever-changing hues feel like a reflection of our own inner alchemy - the body and soul evolving, refracting light in new ways.
Zultanite invites us to embrace transformation, not as loss, but as revelation.
It teaches adaptability, emotional balance, and the beauty of shifting perspectives.

It sure was a “bingo!” moment for me 😉

Whispers of the Land
Everywhere in Türkiye, the landscape hums with this same alchemy. In Cappadocia, the caves and valleys hold the memory of creation - once molten, now soft. They feel like the earth’s womb, carved by time and surrender. Standing within one, I felt how silence itself can become a teacher: that not all transformation is loud or sudden. Some happens in stillness, in the quiet shaping of what endures.
The ancient hamam – the traditional Turkish bath - is not just about cleansing - it’s a ritual of shedding, surrendering, and reawakening sensuality - a menopause ritual for letting go - of old identities, expectations, and emotional residues.
You step into warmth, release what you no longer need, and let the water remember you clean. The first time I experienced it, I felt layers I hadn’t realized I was carrying - stories, roles, expectations - simply dissolve in the steam. What remained was softness.
And then there are the roses. In Isparta, vast fields bloom every spring, their fragrance carried for miles. Turkish rose oil is said to open the heart, to balance and calm. Breathing it in feels like an act of remembering - of coming back to the essence of who we are beneath the noise of doing.
Türkiye’s “city of roses” produces some of the world’s finest rose oil. I got myself some rosewater. I love to use it for my face and sternum, to cool of when a heat wave comes along 😊
Rose softens the heart and supports hormonal balance - perfect for both emotional and physical transitions.
The Stone of Graceful Change
Back to Zultanite. This unique gem teaches through subtlety. It doesn’t demand attention; it invites presence. Its message isn’t about glitter or perfection - it’s about perspective.
When the light shifts, so does the color. When we soften our gaze, new shades appear.
It felt like a mirror to the human experience - how every change, when seen differently, reveals hidden beauty. It reminded me that transformation is not something we survive; it’s something we become.
For me, Zultanite carries the energy of gentle courage - the kind that doesn’t fight against change but flows with it. It balances the heart and the mind, teaching emotional equilibrium through life’s seasons. It invites intuition to rise, not as something mystical or far away, but as the quiet voice that already lives inside us.
Zultanite’s energy whispers:
Shift with the light.
You are allowed to change.
You are many shades of the same brilliance.
Light in All Its Forms
One evening in Cappadocia, I watched the full moon lift above the valleys. The rocks shimmered pale silver, and I remembered how the same landscape looked at sunrise - gold and rose, almost translucent. The light had changed, and so had everything I saw.
Maybe that’s what this part of my journey wanted to teach me: that the art of transformation lies not in resisting change, but in letting ourselves be seen in all our colors - no longer who we were, not yet who we’ll become, but luminous in the in-between.
Zultanite, the gem of shifting light, became my small talisman for that truth.
Sometimes life brings us to places not to explore the world, but to rediscover our own reflection in it. Türkiye, with its ancient textures and timeless beauty, reminded me that every element - earth, water, scent, and light - holds wisdom for the feminine heart.
And perhaps that’s why the stone found me, rather than the other way around.
Because like Zultanite, we too are meant to shimmer differently as the light changes - to reveal new depths, new warmth, new grace with every turn of the sun.

Other Turkish Gemstones
If you are into crystals like I am, these beauties are also found in this gorgeous country:
Blue Chalcedony: soothing communication, peace, hormonal balance.
Turkish Agate: grounding, feminine strength, boundary healing.
Onyx (from Marmara): endurance, reclaiming personal power.
Zultanite taught me that transformation doesn’t ask us to become someone new - it invites us to remember who we already are when light touches us differently.
If your light is shifting, perhaps it’s time to embrace your own Zultanite moment.
If you’re walking through a time of transition — perhaps feeling called to rediscover your own colors — I’d love to walk beside you. My work weaves spiritual healing, soul guidance, and feminine wisdom to help you come home to your inner glow.
