To explain it simply: when we experience something painful, frightening, overwhelming, or confusing - especially when we are young - a part of us may remain connected to that experience.
This means we do not have only one inner child. We may carry several younger parts from different ages, alongside protectors, inner critics, saboteurs and other parts that developed in response to what we experienced.
Each part carries its own memories, emotions and beliefs. These may include:
“I am not good enough.”
“I am not wanted.”
“I have no control.”
“I don’t belong.”
Although these parts originally formed to protect us, their beliefs and reactions can continue to influence our confidence, relationships, choices and everyday life - often without us realizing it.
Parts Work is not about rejecting or silencing these parts. It is about meeting them, understanding what they have been protecting and liberating the beliefs and emotions they no longer need to carry.
Inner Child and other Parts Work is included, whenever relevant, within all of my twelve-week journeys.
